Synopsis
OpenOffice.org (http://www.openoffice.org/) and its derivatives like LibreOffice (http://www.libreoffice.org/) is able to import and export arbitrary XML in version 1.1 onwards, if provided with XSLT stylesheets to describe the transformation. Sebastian Rahtz has provided a simple package of stylesheets and templates (one for P4 and one for P5) to let TEI XML and OpenOffice.org work together.
This package, written in XSLT 1.0, is now superceded by the transformations between TEI and OO in the general TEI stylesheets package (XSLT 2.0). This includes command-line scripts odttotei and teitoodt, is included in the OxGarage web service for TEI transformation, and is also available as a jar file for use in OpenOffice.org.

System requirements
If you are using NeoOffice 2.1 (a native Mac OS X version), be sure to install the latest patch ([1]) or the filters will not work.

Additional notes
To install the filter(s), start Open Office and and follow the Tools / XML Filter Settings menu. Choose Open Package and locate the .jar file(s).
