==Purpose of Membership Drive for 2018==
Membership numbers have steadily declined since 2015 though income from membership between 2016 and 2017 is relatively stable (Michigan re-upped at $5,000, for example). The institutional categories where we are seeing consistent loss are Supporter ($250) and Contributor ($500). Our individual membership is drastically down to about half of what it was last year (though JU is looking into that some more). The Membership Secretary should check-in to Wild Apricot regularly to remind members when a membership will lapse and encourage lapse members to rejoin.

==Changes to Current Membership Model for 2018 Onward==
In preparation for the membership drive, we decided to keep the existing members categories and leverage the “donation” button as a way for people to donate what they can or what they want (more than $50, for example) for a one-year membership. In the end this made better sense than arbitrary denominations like $15 USD, $25 USD, etc. This way people can join through donation based on what they can afford.

==Implementing the Membership Drive==

* JavaScript rotation of banner according to browser language preference with English as default at page loading / page refresh
* Allow user to close the banner
* Placement of banner either across the top of the whole web site or a box between the first heading and content of the page
* Run the drive from January through April; again sometime in the summer leading up to TEI Conference registration
