Invitation to ASLAN LabEx (27.10)
On the occasion of the TEI 2015 Members’ meeting and Conference in Lyon the ASLAN LabEx (Laboratory of Advanced Studies on Language Complexity) is happy to invite the participants of “TEI for Linguists” and “Tools” SIGs (or any person interested in their activities) to meet its members working on language corpora or text encoding projects. The meeting will take place in ENS de Lyon, at 5 pm, on Tuesday 27 October, right after the series of pre-conference workshops and will be followed by an aperitif.
To attend the meeting, just come at 5pm to the main entrance of the Buisson ENS building (where the workshops will take place).
The LabEx ASLAN (http://aslan.universite-lyon.fr) is an interdisciplinary consortium performing innovative research on language in all of its complexity, within an integrative, multidimensional and non-reductionist approach. ASLAN capitalises on the very strong expertise of its two founding laboratories: DDL (Dynamique Du Langage, http://www.ddl.ish-lyon.cnrs.fr/) and ICAR (Interactions, Corpus, Apprentissages, Représentations, http://icar.univ-lyon2.fr). The activities are articulated around three research word packages:
- WP1 “Thinking Language Complexity” aims to develop a conceptual and operational integrative framework for comprehension and modeling of language complexity ;
- WP2 “Language(s): their Origin, Evolution, and Diversity” seeks to explore language change and variation diachronically and synchronically;
- WP3 “From the Individual to Interaction” addresses issues in language development and use across different scales and situations.
Two other WPs focus on training, valorisation, and outreach drawing and building on results from the three research WPs.
