Report on the meeting of the working group ‚genetic editions’ of the special interest group ‘Manuscripts’.

Organisers of this meeting: Paolo D’Iorio (Oxford / Paris), Fotis Jannidis (Würzburg), Elena Pierazzo (London), Malte Rehbein (Galway)

Purpose: To present the results of a series of working group meetings to a wider audience of international experts on genetic editions in order to discuss and adapt these results, and to give these experts the possibility to present their editions, in order to broaden the knowledge base of the core members of the working group. In a meeting of the working group immediately after the workshop the results of the discussions and presentations as far as they concerned the conceptual proposal of the working group were analysed and a protocol was made. Paris was chosen because one of the organisers could provide free rooms for the meeting there and there was a high chance that some members of the ITEM would participate in the workshop.

Results: The meeting was generally seen as very fruitful and successful by all attending. The conceptual outline of the working group proposal was changed substantially. And a series of problems and examples could be collected for the draft proposal.

Context: The funded workshop was part of a series of meetings of the working group in the last 2 years (See the wiki for more information and minutes) . Based on these meetings, the work of the above mentioned members and of Lou Burnard, a first draft of an proposal to the TEI council has been written and will be discussed at the TEI meeting in Ann Arbor and in the following months.
