Google Analytics

I know that Google Analytics is quite popular and easy to use but shouldn't we encourage people to use open source software? Piwik looks like a good alternative that stores data on your local server rather than sharing it with google. I haven't tried it yet but will do so soon and will happily share my findings here if requested. --pstadler 05:40, 23 March 2011 (EDT)

Piwik is great and it can be opened and tested on TEI@SourceForge -- thanks, Peter! I'll suggest this to the Council ASAP. Piotr 07:54, 23 March 2011 (EDT)
In addition to Piwik, other alternatives to consider are AWStats, Urchin (the underlying open-source product that is the basis of Google Analytics), and Mint (hosted but not by Google). (Kshawkin 09:32, 23 March 2011 (EDT))
Piwik's little bonus is that it can be tested on-site, in a way. But of course you're right that an overview of the available tools is always a good thing. As usual, Stuart has possibly started something fruitful :-) Piotr 10:16, 23 March 2011 (EDT)
