Rahtz Prize Invitation to Apply
Dear [Nominee],
We are pleased to inform you that your project|initiative|etc, [name of project|initiative|etc.], has been nominated for the Rahtz Prize for TEI Ingenuity [1].
This is the first year that the TEI Consortium (TEI-C) has offered the Rahtz Prize. It was created in memory of Sebastian Rahtz, who contributed significantly to the TEI infrastructure. The award is intended to honour Sebastian’s noteworthy technical and philosophical contributions to the TEI, and to encourage innovation in the TEI community. The Rahtz Prize for TEI Ingenuity is awarded to an individual or team judged to have made a significant contribution to the TEI-C's mission in particular by means of technical innovation. Many members of the TEI community are engaged in exploring new ways of implementing and expanding the coverage of the TEI encoding system. It is hoped that the Rahtz Prize will not only recognize excellent work already completed, but through its celebration and dissemination of nominated works also encourage new projects and fresh approaches. The recipient(s) of the 2017 award will receive $1,000 USD or equivalent.
In order to be considered for the Rahtz Prize, please submit an application by 15 June 2017: https://goo.gl/forms/a94kh0pViSGkYjYm1. The applications will be reviewed by the 2017 Rahtz Prize Awards Panel (Gabriel Bodard, Hugh Cayless, and Michelle Dalmau) according to the TEI-C's mission statement and evaluation criteria:
- innovative development of the TEI Guidelines
- creation of TEI-aware tools and technologies that further dissemination, adoption, and engaged use of the TEI Guidelines
- expansive and inclusive TEI training and outreach opportunities
- informed development and cultivation of particular TEI practitioner communities
The Awards Panel is not required to make an award in every year.
Please contact Gabriel Bodard (gabriel.bodard@sas.ac.uk), Hugh Cayless (philomousos@gmail.com), or Michelle Dalmau (mdalmau@indiana.edu) with any questions.
Congratulations! We look forward to reviewing your application.
Best wishes,
Michelle, Gabby & Hugh
