TEI-C Board Action Items for 2017

Overview

The 2016 TEI-C Board in-person meeting in Vienna, Austria on 27 September 2016 generated a list of significant action items that will form a roadmap for the Board's work moving forward in 2017. Items of the list will be verified with outgoing Board members, refined, and new items will appear as part of our work in 2017. This list will also contain items not completed as part of the TEI-C_Board_Action_Items_for_2016 as well as other issues that arose throughout the 2916 calendar year.

Action Items

Calls for Host, Calls for Filling Vacant Positions

  • (?) Recruit new Social Media Coordinator
  • Issue a Call to Host the TEI Members’ Meeting for 2018 and 2019 in early 2017
  • Issue a Call for Rahtz Prize in early 2017

Survey/Study

Codes of Conduct

  • Codes_of_Conduct
    • TEI-C Community (social media, email list, etc.)
    • Conference (revisit discussions from 2014 Board)
    • Board of Directors
    • Diversity Statement

Membership

  • Related to Survey/Study above (Understanding_the_TEI_Community)
  • Revist membership levels (see September minutes)
  • Extend outreach beyond universities and libraries

TEI-C Governance

  • Establish a Working Group model that includes participants from the broader TEI Community'
  • Face-to-face meetings with the Council once a year
    • Initiatives that the Board could push:
      • Assist in creating a framework for the Council's work to be considered as part of promotion and tenure

Internal Procedures and Working Documents

  • Update, improve and create the needed procedural documentation for the various functions of the TEI-C under the Board’s purview; consult the following document as a starting point: http://www.tei-c.org/Board/procedures.xml.
  • Update the Treasurer's internal procedures document to support the transitioning of this role in the next 2-3 years; document the role of the newly retained accountant/CPA
  • Overhaul Call for Host documentation
  • Update TEI-C sponsored travel guidelines

Updates to the TEI ByLaws

TEI-C Website

  • Create Guidelines for Editing TEI-C Website as part of the WordPress migration
  • Assist the TEI-C Webmaster in developing specifications for phase of web site overhaul: usability assessment + design
