Overview

- Manage and actively contribute to the TEI-C's Facebook & Twitter
- Curate and post news events to the TEI-C Web site relevant to the TEI Community
- Author blog posts and/or recruit bloggers
Goals for 2016/2017
- Sharing of TEI news, events, meetings and publications posted on the TEI-L mailing list to the TEI social media platforms, website and blog.
- Sharing of CFPs, Job applications, scholarships, grants, awards, and other academic positions and offers from several academic mailing lists, including but not limited to the TEI-L mailing list.
- TEI Element of the Day tweets posted daily on Twitter.
- Communicating and interacting with members and non-members on Twitter and Facebook.
- Hosting TEI Tweet Chats on current topics of discussion, with coordinators of SIGs; Reinvigorate TEI Tweet Chats as a regular monthly social media initiative.
- Curating tweet chats using TAGS Explorer, an online tool for archiving and visualising Twitter conversations.
- Advertising and promoting TEI-XML tools, such as Oxygen XML Editor.
- Participating and encouraging participation in crowd-sourced digital projects that use TEI, such as the Letters of 1916 project
- Showcase active TEI projects (will require identifying projects beyond the web site's list of projects, TEI-L, etc.)
- Setup and broadcast TEI podcasts to facilitate the discussion of current topics of debate, to share information regarding upcoming events, conferences, and workshops, and to showcase the work of the TEI community.
- Create video tutorials and screencasts to integrate an audio-visual media platform for the TEI-C website. Encourage participation from the TEI community in the achievement of this pedagogical initiative.
- Cross-connect with the broader digital humanities/digital libraries communities by engaging in discussions through ADHO, DLF, etc. social media communication channels.
Compensation
- One-year individual membership

Call for Social Media Coordinator
Dear Community,
The Text Encoding Initiative seeks a motivated volunteer to fill the role of Social Media Coordinator. The successful candidate will maintain the TEI Consortium's Facebook and Twitter presences and create entries for the blog and newsfeed server, with the purpose of increasing the visibility of the TEI and improving its outreach activities. The role requires knowledge of the TEI and of social media, as well as enthusiasm for both.
The non-stipendiary appointment will be for one year, May 1 - April 30. The TEI-C will support travel to the annual Members’ Meeting and conference according to current policies and procedures: http://www.tei-c.org/Board/procedures.xml#body.1_div.8. We will also provide an individual TEI membership for one year. Reimbursement for expenses may be available for specific activities as approved by the Board of Directors.
The work will be conducted in close collaboration with the chairs of the Board and the Technical Council and a commitment to a roughly daily engagement with social media is expected.
