"The goal of TAPAS is to provide TEI publishing and repository services at low cost to those who lack institutional resources: faculty, students, librarians, archivists, teachers, and anyone else with TEI data who wants to store, share, and publish it. TAPAS seeks to achieve these goals in a collaborative, open, and community-driven way using open-source tools. The TAPAS project is a collaborative effort involving many institutions and people who support TAPAS in many different ways: hosting the service, contributing to the project's development, providing beta-testing and test data, and serving in advisory roles."

"TAPAS provides all users free access to its repository and the TEI sandbox space of the TAPAS commons. However, in order to manage your own projects, invite contributors, and publish collections of your TEI data, you will need to upgrade your TAPAS | Startup account to the TAPAS | TEI account by purchasing a membership with the TEI Consortium."
